On-Campus Housing

All UHV freshmen students are required to live in on-campus Housing unless you meet any of the exemptions found on Residential Life's website. As detailed to you in your admission letters, you must apply for Housing before arriving in the U.S. Sophomore students and above as well as graduate students are not required to live on-campus. However, we strongly recommend that all international students during their first year in the U.S. live on-campus while you acclimate.

Off-Campus Housing
International transfer students (sophomore and up) and graduate students are permitted to live off-campus. Victoria and Katy offer multiple apartment complexes. Please remember to mention that you are an international student at UHV when discussing your apartment application with each complex's leasing office. Some apartment complexes may require a letter from our office in lieu of a background check, some apartment complexes may require a co-signer, and some may require a social security number.

Zillow Search - Victoria

Tips for using Zillow: Go to "Listing Type" and de-select all items except for "For Rent" next to the purple bubble. Then, go to the "Any Price" tab and enter your desired minimum and maximum monthly rent ranges. Next, go to "0+ Beds" and enter your desired number of bedrooms (note: the website assigns "beds" to mean "bedrooms;" the apartments are not typically furnished, however). Then, go to "Home Type" and choose whether you are searching for a house, an apartment, a condo/co-op, or townhome. Apartments and condos are typically the most affordable. You can also enter other specifications under the "More" tab.

Katy

Please note that UHV does not have on-campus housing or dining services at our Katy campus. You are responsible to secure your housing off-campus. We have listed a few apartment search options for you below. If you are a new international student in the U.S. for the first time and you are attending the UHV Katy campus, you may run in to rental issues. However, please connect with the International Programs Office to avoid these issues. We strongly recommend that you select our residential campus located in Victoria if this is your first time in the U.S. Costs of living in Houston/Katy are more than the estimated cost of an international student living in Victoria, TX.
