Financial Aid at UHV
Your education is a major investment. That's why the University of Houston-Victoria offers a variety of financial resources to help offset your educational costs. In fact, we award more than $32.3 million each year in scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study employment.
We also offer the UHV Guarantee to help pay for housing expenses your freshman and sophomore years. Qualified students can receive a $1,200 scholarship while living at UHV Jaguar Village. Plus, freshmen can renew the scholarship for their sophomore year.

Applying for Financial Aid
Start your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after applying to UHV. You'll automatically be considered for most types of aid with this one application. The priority deadline for the Fall semester is January 15th. Our FAFSA School Code is 013231.

Documents received after January 15 will be processed in the following time frames:
January 16 - May 10 Within one week of receipt
May 11 - July 26 Within two weeks of receipt
July 27 - September 15 Within three weeks of receipt
Financial aid is generally awarded one week after your last document is processed. However, you will need to add an additional week if corrections are required on your FAFSA.

Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II – Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA)
CRRSAA emergency funds will provide UHV students with financial aid grants that may be used for any component of a student’s cost of attendance or for emergency grants that arise because of coronavirus. This includes tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care.
- Only students who are or could be eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, may receive emergency financial aid grants. If a student filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid and meets the federal eligibility requirements, the student has demonstrated eligibility to participate in programs under Section 484 of the HEA.
- Students must be currently enrolled at least 3 hours for the spring 2021 semester at UHV.
- Students must be U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens. UHV undocumented students, DACA and international students are not eligible for CRRSAA funds.
- Students must have at least $1,000 in documented financial need.
- Students must have a high school diploma, a GED or completed high school in an approved homeschool setting. UHV dual credit students are not eligible.
- Male students must be registered with Selective Service.
- Students must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress.
- Students must not be in default on a federal education loan or owe a payment on a federal grant.
- Students must have a valid social security number.
Process - (Application Deadline: June 15, 2021)
Complete and submit the application. CRRSAA requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need in awarding financial aid grants.
UHV received $1,116,503 to provide students emergency grants. The amount of the CRRSAA grant will be $1,000 for students who meet the criteria. The CRRSAA Emergency grant funding will be offered for the spring 2021 semester. As of June 15, 2021, $1,116,503 has been offered to 1,117 students.
Results and requests for additional information will be communicated to students using their UHV email address.
Funding can be used to satisfy a student’s outstanding account balance or be directly disbursed using the student’s refund preference established with BankMobile. Students should be sure that their current address is on file with the UHV Registrar.

What is the CRRSAA Act?
On December 27, 2020, the president signed the Coronavirurs Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA).The new law gives the U.S. Department of Education funding to distribute to institutions of higher education in order to prevent, prepare for and respond to coronavirus through the HEERF.
What kinds of expenses are allowable?

How much can I apply for?

Does the money need to be repaid?
No. Money received through this fund does not need to be repaid.
Will this funding reduce my financial aid?
No. This fund does not negate or replace financial aid.
What are the deadlines to apply?
The application deadline to apply is June 15, 2021. Applications are reviewed as soon as possible. Funds are distributed within three weeks of application approval.
How will I be notified of the application decision?
If selected or denied for an emergency grant, students will receive a notification in their UHV email account.
What if I owe UHV for tuition or other expenses?
Funding can be used to satisfy a student’s outstanding account balance or directly disbursed using the student’s refund preference established with BankMobile. The emergency grant will be disbursed according to the student’s chosen response on the CRRSAA application.
Are CRRSAA funds taxable?
No. Grants received from HEERF II funds are not treated as taxable income or untaxed income. However, UHV is awaiting further clarification from the IRS as to whether these funds will be reported on 2021 1098-T forms. This section will be updated once more information has been received.
