JAG PROMISE

What is the JAG Promise?
New incoming freshmen who qualify will have their tuition and mandatory fees covered 100% for eight fall/spring semesters (summers are not covered). The semesters must be taken consecutively within a 4-year period and students must maintain eligibility to continue to qualify. Tuition and mandatory fees are covered by grants, scholarships and tuition exemptions from federal, state, and scholarship
JAG Promise
UHV guarantees all tuition and mandatory fees will be covered by grant assistance and other sources for eligible students with student and parent combined annual gross income of $65,000 or less.
Eligibility:
- First time in college freshman with all necessary documents received by Dec. 1 for Spring or March 15 for Fall.
- Must be a Texas resident.
- Must have graduated from a TEA Texas-recognized high school within 16 months of initial enrollment.
- Must complete a FAFSA application by June 30.
- Must complete the UHV scholarship application by May 1.
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student and degree-seeking.
- Must have a student and parent combined annual gross income of $65,000 or less. (family need is determined by the FAFSA/TASFA).
- Renewable each year based on continued eligibility.

JAG Healthcare Promise
UHV guarantees all tuition and mandatory fees will be covered by grant assistance and scholarships for eligible students who pursue majors in Biology, Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Biomedical Science and BBA-Healthcare Administration.
Eligibility:
- Must be fully admitted to UHV as an undergraduate or graduate student.
- For eligible students who pursue majors in Biology, Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Biomedical Science, BBA-Healthcare Administration, and Psychology.
- Must be a Texas resident.
- Must have at least a 2.0 GPA for undergraduate students or 3.0 for graduate students.
- Must complete the UHV scholarship application by May 1.
- Must be a resident of Victoria and surrounding counties: Aransas, Bee, Calhoun, Colorado, DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Karnes, Lavaca, Matagorda, Refugio, Victoria, Waller & Wharton.
- Renewable each year based on continued eligibility.
JAG Gap Scholarship
UHV will provide limited assistance of up to $2,000 per semester to undergraduate students who have out-of-pocket expenses for tuition and fees after all aid and scholarships have been applied. The scholarship will only cover any outstanding balance due.
Eligibility:
- Must be a Texas resident.
- Must be enrolled as a new student in an undergraduate program (not as a post-baccalaureate student).
- Must complete FAFSA and UHV scholarship applications.
- Must be registered by December 1 for Spring or by July 15 for Fall.
- Renewable each year based on continued eligibility.
UHV Commitment Scholarship
Students can receive up to a $2,400 scholarship for UHV Jaguar Village housing expenses for the academic year. The scholarship can be awarded for up to a maximum of 4 years.
Eligibility:
- Must be enrolled full-time and attend classes in Victoria.
- Must maintain academic satisfactory progress.
UHV Presidential Scholarship
The UHV Presidential Scholarship is a $5,000 merit-based scholarship that recognizes academic excellence.
Eligibility:
- Must be a graduating high school student with a 3.75 GPA or higher.
- Submit a 750-1000 word electronic (typed) essay and submit it by May 1.
- Complete the UHV scholarship application by May 1.
- Renewable each year as long as the student maintains enrollment in 12+ credit hours and a 3.0 GPA or higher.
