Office of the President
Hello, Jaguars. My name is Christopher Le’Roy McDonald and I will be serving as your Student Government Association President for the 2019-2020 academic year. I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UHV in the Spring of 2017 and am now working towards my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. UHV has given me and many others the opportunity to grow both professionally and academically. It is my pleasure to be able to give back to an institution that promotes growth internally and externally. We are looking forward to working with you all in achieving your goals and becoming successful in your field of interest.
Hello, Jaguars! My name is Stephanie Tello, Vice President of the Student Government Association. I am a Senior, Creative Writing major. I could be considered a Victoria native, but I am still a mid-western girl at heart – any fellow Chicagoans? Even as a writer, I am still an avid reader, spending my time outside of school and work lost in a good book. Second to that, I love sports! You can catch me at a UHV soccer or baseball game. [Feel free to say Hi!]
My goal in SGA is to create a university that students can be proud of – a campus they feel they belong. This being said, my hope is that my efforts will aid in increasing student retention. To achieve this, there are various aspects that will need to be improved. Examples include: academics, campus life, recreation, and student inclusion.
Hello, I am Keiundra Jones. I am a Junior majoring in Criminal Justice. I hope one day to become a Crime Scene Investigator or a Youth Probation Officer. I am from Fort Worth, TX - born and raised. I am 20 years old and the youngest of five children, only the second to attend college. In my free time I enjoy listening to music, writing poetry, and reading a good book.
Regarding SGA, my goal is to make sure this organization cohesively and as a communicative unit; as well as abiding to the rules put in place amongst us as an organization. I also plan to simultaneously make sure we can come to a fair and equal conclusion amongst one another as a student body. I plan on making sure that all student conduct, security, and Title IX issues and concerns are taken care of properly, to make sure we all feel safe as a whole. I plan on achieving these goals by attending to tasks that are brought to my attention. I will address situations with authority and make sure I am following my job description as Chief Justice.
Speaker of the Senate
Hello! My name is Tiarah Figueroa and I am currently a Sophomore at the University of Houston-Victoria. I am the current Speaker of the Senate for the Student Government Association! I am involved in multiple organizations including The Green Club, The Lions Club, and FASHION! Club. My hobbies include thrifting, dancing, and arts & crafts! I am very excited to be a part of our university and I hope to inspire other students to never give up on whatever goals they wish to reach.
Director of Finance
I am Michael Sierra-Hoffman, the Director of Finance for the Student Government Association. I am an accounting major in my Junior year. My career goal is to become a C-Level Executive for a Fortune 500 company. While that is my long-term vision, my current goal with SGA is to help students feel that they are getting what they were promised when they decided to come to UHV. I look forward to working with you all.
Director of Public Relations
Hello, fellow Jaguars! My name is Kayla Gutierrez, Director of Public Relations of the Student Government Association. I am a Graduate Student, MBA in Management and certification in corporate finance and investments. I am also a 2018 UHV Alumni where I pursued by Bachelor’s in Health Studies. You can usually find me doing some form of volunteer work out in the Victoria Community. I am employed by the Victoria County Public Health Department and I am licensed Community Health Worker through the State of Texas.
As the Director of Public relations, I want to integrate my community involvement, and University involvement. Having a sense of community for the University students can make a positive impact on student’s mental health, it is a home away from home while also giving back to the Victoria Community, and learning real world experience while being a student. As an executive board SGA member, I will head the Health and Wellness committee!
Director of Student Organizations
My name is Jocelyne Martinez, I'm a Senior and a Computer Science major with a minor in Psychology. In my career, I want to be a programmer. I'm fluent both in English and Spanish. Fun fact: I love to read.
My goals are to help SGA reach its full potential as an entity of change in UHV. I want SGA to be able to encourage students not only to speak up about important issues, but to step up and be part of the solution.
