Natural Sciences and Mathematics
The Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics has a total of 13 amazing full time faculty members in the areas of Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Our department teaches classes from freshman level to senior level, and graduate courses as well. For instance, we offer 21 core classes which makes us the department with more classes in the university's core curriculum program.
Natural Sciences
We offer a degree in Biology which prepares undergraduate students for a variety of careers in industry and academic laboratories, for medical/health professional programs, and for graduate work in the bio-medical sciences. Our faculty members have developed meaningful research in several areas like Biotechnology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Marine Ecology, Development Biology, Medical Science, Veterinary Science, Pharmaceutical Science and Environmental Science. We also have state-of-the-art DNA to Environmental Laboratories, where students can conduct their own independent research.

Mathematics
Students have opportunities to have degrees in Mathematics in two programs: Bachelor of Arts or Science in Mathematical Science with a concentration in Mathematics, or Bachelor of Arts or Science in Mathematics with Secondary Teaching Certification. We prepare students for very marketable for positions in insurance, business, government, research, pharmaceuticals, and mathematics education. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the following math-related fields are expected to grow rapidly: actuary, high-tech research and engineering, operations research, and management science. Graduates from these programs will be well prepared to pursue graduate studies in mathematics or a related area.
Biomedical Sciences
We offer graduate classes, including the M.S. in Biomedical Science. This program applies biological sciences to medical uses such as research, diagnostics, health monitoring, and treatment. It is designed to further prepare pre-health professional students (pre-med, pre-vet, pre-pharm) for entry into health professional schools and careers in biomedical sciences.
Additionally, we support other graduate programs, such as the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS) with concentrations in Biomedical Sciences or Mathematics. We also contribute to the graduate program in the College of Education by offering graduate-level math courses.

Our Faculty
Our faculty members are also very active members of Victoria and its surroundings communities. We promote interaction of the university with several elementary-, middle-, and high-schools during a variety of activities like the Math and Robotics Awareness Day, summer camps, school visits, school field trips, after school clubs and more.
