Counseling Services

The Counseling Center offers a range of services related to mental health counseling for students and educational events regarding health and wellness topics. If you are seeking support, our goal is to ensure you a safe place where you can express yourself and your thoughts without judgment. Services are free and confidential.

Individual Therapy

Meet with a counselor for regularly scheduled individual sessions, typically once every two weeks. This service involves one-on-one sessions with a counselor. Students can get individual help for a variety of concerns. These include adjusting to college, psychological challenges (i.e. depression, anxiety), processing through traumatic experiences, and many other types of support depending on the need of the individual.

Couples Therapy

Meet with a counselor and your partner. Only one member of the couple needs to be an eligible UHV student. This service allows for the couple to work on the relationship instead of the individual mental health concerns. Couples counseling can also help friends or roommates resolve communication and relationship problems.

Group therapy is sometimes the best approach for the following goals:

Outreach

The Counseling Center offers a variety of workshops and programs designed to promote wellness and support a positive campus climate. Outreach is focused on mental, physical and sexual health. Topics include healthy relationships, stress management, suicide prevention, anxiety, healthy eating, depression and more. For more information, visit our health educator in person or our programming calendar on JagSync.
