Hispanic-Serving Institution designation*

The University of Houston System is the first higher education system in Texas in which all member institutions are Hispanic- Serving Institutions (HSIs). As of March 2013, UHV is designated eligible to receive federal funding under both Title III and Title V of the Higher Education Act from the U.S. Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education. Title III is given to schools to support federal grants for low- income students. Title V is given to HSIs where at least 25% of the undergraduate, full-time equivalent student population is Hispanic.
