Welcome to the University of Houston - Victoria School of Nursing, where we offer excellent and flexible programs for those busy nurses who want to obtain a bachelor's degree, those interested in advancing their nursing career with a graduate degree or those students who already have a university degree and want to become a nurse in our Second Degree program. The programs are approved through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and have full approval from the Texas Board of Nursing. The UHV School of Nursing is an institutional member of the Texas Medical Center.
UHV School of Nursing will be transitioning to the University of Houston Fall 2015, pending approval by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The Nursing programs currently offered by University of Houston-Victoria will be acquired by University of Houston as of August 1. Beginning Fall 2015 students will graduate from the University of Houston. The transition will allow for future growth and expansion. The current quality faculty, programs, clinical rotations and all teaching locations will remain the same during the transition to UH.
RN to BSN APPLY NOW for SUMMER admission to UH Victoria. The University of Houston - Victoria School of Nursing does not offer an entry-level nursing program. The RN to BSN completion program is specifically for working nurses who have completed their associate degree and subsequent RN licensure to advance their professional qualifications while continuing to live and work within the community. This program is offered in the fall, spring and summer semesters in Victoria and the greater Houston area including Sugar Land, and Katy.
Second Degree BSN SPRING Admission
The Second Degree BSN program is a 12-month, intensive, full-time program for people holding bachelor's or master's degrees in other fields who want to become registered nurses (RNs). This program is designed to facilitate a career change for the more mature and experienced student. Currently UHV has the highest NCLEX-RN pass rate of any university in the State of Texas. This program is offered at the UH Sugar Land campus in Sugar Land, Texas. Deadline for application and all supporting documents for the Second Degree BSN program is August 15.
MSN (With options in nursing education, nursing administration and family nurse practitioner) APPLY NOW for FALL admission. The School of Nursing offers a Master's of Science in Nursing degree with tracks for Nurse Educator, Nurse Administrator, and Family Nurse Practitioner. The Master's of Science Nursing degree is offered in Victoria and the greater Houston area including Sugar Land and Katy, Texas. Innovative educational delivery and part-time study is available. The Family Nurse Practitioner tract offers admission once a year - the Fall semester. All FNP tract courses are offered at the UHSL campus in the Fall semester. Travel each semester within the UHV service area which includes Victoria, Fort Bend, Katy and the greater Houston area will be necessary to satisfy program requirements.
The master's degree program prepares professional nurses for leadership roles in nursing education and nursing administration. The family nurse practitioner track prepares nurses to assume leadership roles in advance nursing practice. Graduate study in nursing requires the acquisition and systematic application of knowledge and skills in nursing practice, evidence-based practices, and nursing roles. Advanced critical thinking skills in nursing are enhanced through the study of theory and research.

The baccalaureate degree in nursing and master's degree in nursing at the University of Houston Victoria are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.aacn.nche.edu/ccne-accreditation).
