General Information
What is happening with UHV Katy?
To focus more intentionally on Victoria-based and online instruction, the University of Houston-Victoria will be closing our teaching site in Katy. As UHV transitions out of Katy, the University of Houston (UH) will continue to expand its program offerings at that location. UHV will continue to offer online programs and Victoria-based instruction, and students in those programs will not be affected by this change.
What is the timeline for this transition?
UHV will offer face-to-face and ITV classes from UHV Katy through Summer 2026. Beginning Fall 2026, UHV will offer no classes located at the Katy campus.
Where can I find up-to-date information?
As new information becomes available, this webpage will be updated, and we’ll share information through email or other means where appropriate.
Who should I contact if I have questions?
UHV staff will continue to provide support as you navigate options and make plans beyond Spring 2025. If you have additional questions, reach out to one of the Katy Transition Advisors; they will connect you with the appropriate person.
Course and Degree Completion Options
What are my options?
Your first step should be to work with your assigned academic advisor. They may refer you to the designated Katy Transition Advisors to determine the best path to degree completion. Options may include:
- Taking courses at the UHV Katy site during the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Enrolling in UHV online courses to complete degree requirements.
- Transferring in coursework from the University of Houston, University of Houston-Downtown, or another institution.
What if I’m taking classes part-time and can’t attend full-time?
We want you to be successful in your timeframe, so be sure to talk with your academic advisor or the Katy Transition Advisors about your capacity for taking classes. They will help you develop a plan for finishing your degree.
I was planning to start a program at UHV Katy. What are my options?
With the last semester of in-person instruction in Katy being Summer 2026, it will be challenging to start and complete a degree in Katy within that timeframe. Many programs currently offered at UHV Katy are also available online. Please contact a UHV admissions counselor or the Katy Transition Advisors to explore those options.
When do I need to decide on my Fall 2026 plans?
While there is no strict deadline, we recommend deciding well before Fall 2026 to ensure a smooth transition. The Katy Transition Advisors will help you create an individualized plan based on continuous enrollment. If you take a break from courses, your plan may change.
Course Availability and Tuition
Will classes continue to be available face-to-face as well as online?
Yes, UHV will continue to offer face-to-face classes in Victoria and online throughout this transition and beyond.
How does this affect Summer 2026 courses and tuition?
Since in-person courses at UHV Katy will end July 31, 2026, any Katy-based Summer 2026 courses will be offered in an 8-week session instead of the full 10-week session. Online course options through UHV will also be available.
What if I need to take courses at UH or UHD?
Students enrolled at UHV Katy or UHV online during the 2025-2026 academic year will continue to pay UHV tuition and fees. If your transition plan involves taking courses at the University of Houston or University of Houston-Downtown, you will still pay the UHV Katy tuition rate, provided you maintain continuous enrollment. This rate remains effective until May 31, 2028, or until you complete your current degree.
What if I transition somewhere other than UH?
UHV will support your journey no matter your decision. Our staff are available to answer questions and provide guidance so you can make the best choice for your education.
Student Support and Resources
Who should I contact about class schedules?
Contact your assigned academic advisor (find this on your myUHV page or in Navigate). They can assist with degree planning. If your student status is closely tied to the closure of the Katy teaching site, they will refer you to the Katy Transition Advisors.
I need to contact Financial Aid or Billing. What should I do?
These offices are located in Victoria but continue to serve all UHV students, including those taking Katy-based courses.
I’m an international or vocational rehabilitation student and need face-to-face classes. What are my options?
The Katy Transition Advisors are coordinating with the International Programs Office and Financial Aid Office. Contact them as soon as possible for individualized support.
Are there additional resources to help navigate this change?
If you're experiencing difficulties, the UHV Counseling Center is available to assist.
