Since our establishment we have grown into a vibrant institution with a reputation for academic excellence and a dedication to student success.

The University of Houston-Victoria offers more than 50 academic programs in the liberal arts and social sciences; business; education and health professions; and natural and applied science.  UHV provides accredited face-to-face and online programs to students in the Gulf Coast region and beyond. Since its founding in 1973, UHV has provided students with a quality higher education taught by talented faculty at a great value.

Location

A regional hub 30 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico, Victoria is a town of 65,000 located about two hours from Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Corpus Christi. UHV also offers classes at an instructional site in the Houston suburb of Katy. Students have choices in how they attend UHV:

Academic Excellence

UHV has been recognized by many national organizations that evaluate universities, including The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report. Several specific academic degree programs also have drawn top rankings.

Our Accreditations

Affordability

UHV offers some of the lowest tuition and fees in Texas, in addition to numerous scholarships and financial aid opportunities. More than $43 million in financial aid is awarded to students annually.

Athletics

UHV fields teams in baseball, softball, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s golf. The Jaguars are part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the baseball, softball and soccer teams compete in the Red River Athletic Conference. The golf teams compete in the Association of Independent Institutions Conference.

Community Outreach

Victoria Regional History Center

Victoria Regional History Center

This center maintains various collections including local newspapers, historical photographs, genealogy records and other items of historical value to the area. It is a partnership with Victoria College.

Small Business Development Center

Certified business advisors offer technical business assistance and training for area small business owners and those aspiring to start a business in an 11-county area.

Center for Regional Collaboration

The center provides a regional hub for small business resources and promotes community engagement and partnerships to support educational, economic and cultural development throughout the area.

Computers & Connectivity

UHV has 25 computer labs. In addition, computers are available for use in all residence halls and University Center, University Commons, University North, University North West and University South. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout campus, including the residence halls.

Enrollment

UHV has 4,062 students (2,829 undergraduates and 1,233 graduates) from 37 states and 200 countries. The student body is 66 percent female and 34 percent male.

Special Designations

The U.S. Department of Education has designated UHV as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. Hispanics make up 40 percent of undergraduate enrollment.

Transfer Partnerships

UHV welcomes students transferring from numerous accredited community colleges and universities, including Victoria CollegeAlvin Community College, Blinn CollegeCoastal Bend CollegeHouston Community CollegeLone Star College and Wharton County Junior College.
