Section: Index C - Human Resources
Policy Number: C-03

Policy

The University of Houston Victoria is committed to the development, implementation, and maintenance of viable affirmative action plans and programs which are in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and UH System policy.

Procedure

The Human Resources Department is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of comprehensive affirmative action plans for all faculty and staff employment, regardless of the source of funding.  These plans will include steps to recruit, hire, train, promote, and retain qualified personnel in all protected classes at all levels of the university.  The plan will further include documentation of the recruitment channels utilized in order to ensure that protected classes are provided equal opportunity in the application process for employment.

The Human Resources Department shall also monitor and maintain documentation on employment decisions to ensure that those decisions are based on applicant qualifications and not on subjective or otherwise unrelated data.

Affirmative Action inquiries or complaints should be directed to the Director of Human Resources (University North, Room 110, (361) 570-4800) or to the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights (800-421-3481).
