Pathway to Bachelor of Science degree in Education

An Associates to a Bachelors degree

Blinn College and UHV have partnered to create a seamless transition to help you complete a bachelor’s degree while saving time and money. A degree specializing in Education 4-8 is a flexible degree option, designed to help you tailor your academic experience to your career goals. You can follow a path or forge a brand new one and teach all over the state of Texas in public and private schools.

First Year - Freshman

First Semester at Blinn 

  • ENGL 1301 - English Composition I
  • Life and Physical Science Core Course - Choose a course from the Life and Physical Science Core Curriculum (UHV Requires a 4-hour science course w/lab)
  • Creative Arts Core Course - Choose a course from the Creative Arts Core Curriculum
  • HIST Core Course - HIST 1301, 1302, or 2301
  • MATH 1324 - Mathematics for Business and Social Sciences

Second Semester at Blinn 

  • ENGL 1302 - English Composition II
  • Life and Physical Science Core Course - Choose a course from the Life and Physical Science Core Curriculum (UHV Requires a 4-hour science course w/lab)
  • SPCH 1315 - Public Speaking
  • HIST Core Course - HIST 1301, 1302, or 2301
  • MATH 1350 - Mathematics for Teachers I

Second Year - Sophomore

First Semester at Blinn 

  • MATH 1351 - Mathematics for Teachers II
  • EDUC 1301 - Introduction to the Teaching Profession
  • Life and Physical Science Core Course* - Select a course from the Social and Behavioral Sciences core area (excluding SPCH 1318).
  • GOVT 2305 - Choose a course from the Life and Physical Science Core Curriculum (UHV Requires a 4-hour science course w/lab) Federal Government
  • TECA 1354 - Child Growth and Development or other Social and Behavioral Science Core Curriculum Course

Second Semester at Blinn 

  • MATH 1325 or choose another Core Curriculum course - Calculus for Business and Social Sciences
  • Life and Physical Science Core Course - Choose a course from the Life and Physical Science Core Curriculum (must include lab)
  • GOVT 2306 - Texas Government
  • ENGL 2332 or 2333 or other Language, Philosophy and Culture Core Curriculum Course - Language, Philosophy and Culture Core Curriculum Course-English Literature or Philosophy
  • EDUC 2301 - SPED 3321: Introduction to Special Populations (Taken through UHV at Blinn)

Third Year - Junior

First Semester at UHV 

  • GEOL 2310 - Earth/Space Science (LD course offered by UHV for Education students)
  • CUIN 3323 - Instructional Design (in-person)
  • INDS 3323 - Child Development (in-person/hybrid)
  • LITY 3352 - Science of Teaching Reading (online/hybrid)
  • CUIN 3327 - Educational Technology (in-person)

 

Second Semester at UHV

Take & pass the state Core Subject exam * Practice STR Exam (2 parts)
