Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972
"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefit of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." (Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 Implementing Regulations: 20 U.S.C.---1681 & 34 C. F. R. Part 106)
University of Houston System Sexual Misconduct Policy
The University of Houston System and the University of Houston-Victoria maintain and strengthen an educational, working and living environment where students, faculty, staff and visitors are free from sex discrimination of any kind. When notified, the University will take appropriate action to
1. Eliminate sexual misconduct
2. Prevent its recurrence
3. Address its effects
Sexual Misconduct as defined by our Policy, constitutes a form of sex discrimination prohibited by Title IX and Title VII, and includes sexual assault, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, sexual intimidation, domestic (family) violence, dating violence, and stalking by employees, students, and visitors.
