University to host Super Saturday to help students prepare for semester
The University of Houston-Victoria, soon to be Texas A&M University-Victoria, will be hosting its Super Saturday event this weekend in an effort to ensure that students are fully prepared for the upcoming academic semester.
Super Saturday will be held on Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside UHV University Commons, 3006 N. Ben Wilson St.
The event is designed to help students finalize any documentation before the start of the fall semester, offering a one-stop opportunity to address enrollment, admissions, financial aid and more.
“Whether students need to enroll in classes, take care of any admissions or financial aid holds or just have any general questions, the university will be open that Saturday to take care of them,” said Oscar Torres, director of recruitment, enrollment management and student experience. “Students who have not applied are still welcome to attend the event and can receive assistance with submitting an application.”
A wide range of resources will be on campus for attendees, Torres said. Staff from the Welcome Center, academic advisors from all colleges, the Student Success Center, Financial Aid, Admissions and the student billing office will be on hand to assist students.
The campus bookstore will also be open to allow students to purchase textbooks and consult with staff.
Students planning to attend are encouraged to monitor their Student Checklist and bring any outstanding documents, such as shot records or transcripts that may be required to complete their enrollment, Torres said.
“Super Saturday is important because it reminds students that the university is accessible to help answer any questions or help them tie up any loose ends,” Torres said.
