For several University of Houston-Victoria students, their recent internship experiences have helped them gain insight into their future careers, thanks to donations and grants from local foundations.

This spring, eight UHV students were able to have real-world job experience in funded internships spanning from politics to museums, with several more students scheduled to intern at public service organizations this summer. 

When Steve Novotny joined the U.S. Air Force, he came to Foster Field for training in 1954, where he learned to fly an F-86 Sabre jet fighter. Now, the 91-year-old veteran has brought some memorabilia from his time at the field to be part of a photo exhibit at the University of Houston-Victoria.

“A Walk Through Foster Field” is a historical photograph exhibit hosted by the UHV Library and presented by the Victoria Regional History Center, a joint collaboration between UHV and Victoria College.

Students in a University of Houston-Victoria business course have set two new records for the university with five teams placing in the weekly Top 25 rankings of the Global Business Simulation competition and one team being placed in the Top 100 five times.

Will Paton, right, accepts his Outstanding Student award from UHV President Bob Glenn on May 13 during the UHV Commencement ceremonies. Paton of Minehead, England, was named the Outstanding Undergraduate Student for the UHV College of Business. He graduated on May 13 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance.
