“We are honored to be recognized for our efforts in shaping the next generation of nursing leaders,” said Dorothy Thomas, director of UHV’s nursing program. “Our Online RN to BSN program, which is ranked as No. 1 out of the top 25 Online programs in Texas, is a testament to the effort and dedication of our faculty, staff and students.”

The UHV online RN to BSN program is designed to accommodate the needs of licensed registered nurses who have earned their associate degrees in nursing and are seeking to advance their education and careers.

The program’s flexibility and affordability make it an ideal option for working professionals. UHV also offers a concurrent enrollment nursing program, which allows ADN students at partner institutions such as Victoria College to start their coursework toward their BSN, enabling them to complete their degree in an accelerated timeframe.

Students can transfer up to 36 semester hours of their advanced placement credit and must meet specific admission requirements which include: holding an active RN license, maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA and having prerequisite coursework in areas like anatomy, psychology and microbiology.

"This recognition serves to reinforce what I like to talk to prospective students about,” said Charles Boswell, recruitment coordinator in the nursing program. “Namely, that this is a solid, fully accredited, inexpensive way to earn a bachelor's degree while working full time."

Rankings from RegisteredNurse.org were based on a comprehensive evaluation of nursing programs across the nation. The site uses data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, the National Center for Education Statistics and the U.S. Department of Education to analyze factors such as program accreditation, online availability, cost of tuition adjusted for local cost of living, graduation and acceptance rates, program completion ratios and faculty tenure. After points have been tallied, institutions are then ranked on these criteria.

The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers courses leading to more than 50 academic programs in the schools of Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; and Education, Health Professions & Human Development. UHV provides face-to-face classes at its Victoria campus, as well as an instructional site in Katy, Texas, and online classes that students can take from anywhere.
