UHV kicks off semester with two weeks of activities

As the spring semester approaches, the University of Houston-Victoria is welcoming its students to campus with two weeks of activities and opportunities to engage with their fellow students.

The Weeks of Welcome will kick off on Tuesday, Jan. 21 and will offer a variety of activities each day through Jan. 31. Each of the events will be free for UHV students, and some will offer games that will allow participants to compete for prizes.

“We want to kick off this semester by giving people the opportunity to get involved and show our students they can have fun on campus,” said Zion Walker, a UHV student involvement coordinator. “These activities will help us kick off the semester with a bang and encourage students to be part of even more activities throughout the year.”

Students are encouraged to participate in the following events:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 21 – Welcome Back Breakfast, 8-10 a.m., UHV University Commons Lobby
  • Wednesday, Jan. 22 – Bingo Night, 7-9 p.m., UHV University Commons Multi-Purpose Room
  • Thursday, Jan. 23 – Create & Cultivate, Noon-2 p.m., UHV University Commons Lobby
  • Friday, Jan. 24 – Welcome Back Bash, 7-9 p.m., UHV University Commons Multi-Purpose Room
  • Saturday, Jan. 25 – Spirit Saturday at the UHV Baseball game vs. Wiley College, Noon, Riverside Stadium
  • 27-31 – Cheer Tryouts, 8-9 p.m., Jaguar Suites Gym
  • Tuesday, Jan. 28 – Friendly Feud, 6-8 p.m., UHV University Commons Multi-Purpose Room
  • Wednesday, Jan. 29 – Lunar New Year, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Jaguar Hall Dining
  • Thursday, Jan. 30 – Involvement Fair, 5-7 p.m., UHV University Commons Multi-Purpose Room
  • Friday, Jan. 31 – Ping Pong Tournament, 3-5 p.m., jaX’s Game Hub

While the majority of the activities are intended for UHV students, the public is welcome to come to the Spirit Saturday event at the UHV Baseball game on Saturday at Riverside Stadium and the Lunar New Year celebration during the lunch hour on Jan. 29 at Jaguar Hall Dining.
