Ribbon cutting marks grand reopening of campus Jaguar Java

Jaguar Java Grand Reopening 04-01-2025
Jax the Jaguar cuts the ribbon to celebrate the grand reopening of Jaguar Java on April 1 inside University Commons at the University of Houston-Victoria. Jaguar Java transitioned from carrying Starbucks coffee to Victoria Coffee Roasters following student requests for expanded options and different flavors. The change was initiated when UHV's student leadership advocated for the university to look into a local coffee provider. The partnership builds on a long-standing relationship between UHV and Victoria Coffee Roasters, which was established in 2007 by founder John Valdivia. This collaboration began just a year after the company's founding when Valdivia created the custom Jaguar Blend for UHV - a product still available today - and has continued with special blends, including one commemorating UHV's 50th anniversary.

The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers courses leading to more than 50 academic programs in the schools of Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; and Education, Health Professions & Human Development. UHV provides face-to-face classes at its Victoria campus, as well as an instructional site in Katy, Texas, and online classes that students can take from anywhere. UHV supports the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Opportunities for All initiative to increase awareness about state colleges and universities and the important role they have in providing a high-quality and accessible education to an increasingly diverse student population, as well as contributing to regional and state economic development.
