Jax the Jaguar blesses class rings

UHV Spring 2025 Ring Blessing
Jax the Jaguar comes up to bless this semester's class rings on May 1 at the Texas Zoo. The class rings were sealed inside of a plastic container and placed inside the jaguar exhibit before a crowd of University of Houston-Victoria representatives and guests. The rings are placed there for 24 hours under the protection of the zoo’s two jaguars, jaX and Sophia, for the "blessing" before being returned to campus for the UHV Ring Ceremony held on Friday, May 2. Known for his sweet and laid-back demeanor at the zoo, jaX, who is currently 12 years old, is also known for his affinity for perfumes and cardboard boxes.
