Graduate students present work at UHV Research Symposium

A total of four graduate students presented their thesis research work along with two graduate students who presented oral presentations on May 9 during the Research Symposium held at the University of Houston-Victoria. From left to right are: Jitoku White, biomedical sciences graduate student; Humberto Hernandez, UHV assistant professor of biology; Rebecca Reyes, biomedical sciences graduate student; Hashimul Ehsan, associate professor in the College of Natural & Applied Science; Rita Tommasi, biomedical sciences graduate student; Thanh Le, biomedical sciences graduate student; Elizabeth Duya, biomedical sciences graduate student; and Morgen Glenn, biomedical sciences graduate student. White's research title was, "The role of Innate immunity in primary open-angle glaucoma." Tommasi's research title was, "Human and Fish Collagen cross species compatibility." Le's research title was, "Defining the Role of Butyrate in Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma." Glenn's research title was, "Evaluating the Role of Curcumin on the Pathogenesis of Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma." Reyes and Duya gave oral presentations to test their comprehensive knowledge of everything they have learned in the program in front of a panel that consisted of Daniel White, UHV interim provost of Academic Affairs; Hashimul Ehsan, associate professor in the College of Natural & Applied Science; and Humberto Hernandez.
