Future students invited to UHV campus for Jaguar Day
The University of Houston-Victoria is inviting students who are interested in earning a college degree to campus to help them prepare to enroll in the fall semester.
The next Jaguar Day event will be March 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is a free come-and-go day that allows prospective students to explore campus, talk with UHV faculty and staff members and make sure they are getting everything they need to enroll for their first semester at the university.
“Whether they are graduating high school seniors, college transfer students, graduate students, or even a mom or dad looking to come back to school to finish a degree, UHV is happy to welcome them to campus,” said Oscar Torres, UHV associate director of enrollment management and new student experience. “Jaguar Day provides an opportunity for us to show students how UHV can be part of their educational journeys and help them achieve their academic goals.”
Attendees will begin the day by checking in at the UHV University Commons Lobby, 3006 N. Ben Wilson St. From there, the university has a variety of options for students and their families to explore, including campus and residence hall tours, presentations from each of UHV’s academic colleges, an academic showcase, a student services and student organizations fair and workshops. Students and their families also will receive free T-shirts and a free all-you-can-eat buffet in Jaguar Hall Dining, 2705 Houston Highway.
During the academic showcase, students and their families will be able to speak with faculty members from various sections of the university about the available degree programs and how they can benefit students.
Students also can meet with offices such as Financial Aid, Admissions and more to make sure that their applications and enrollment processes are on track. Attendees also can purchase UHV items in the Jag Station university bookstore.
“This is an open invitation to come see what life is like as a UHV student,” Torres said. “Getting a degree is a life-changing decision, and we hope students will take this opportunity to come and see how UHV will help them reach that goal.”
