UHV to host Super Saturday event for incoming students
This weekend, the University of Houston-Victoria is offering incoming and prospective students an opportunity to tie up any loose ends as the start of the fall semester rolls around.
UHV will host an in-person Super Saturday event this Saturday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in UHV University Commons, 3006 N. Ben Wilson St.
The event is designed to provide incoming students with a flexible opportunity to complete any outstanding tasks before the arrival of the regular fall semester on Aug. 26.
For students who are unable to attend the event in Victoria, UHV will also host a Super Saturday event, held virtually, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The virtual event is open to Houston metro students, but students from Victoria and the surrounding areas are welcome to join in. Students planning to attend can register at: https://connect.uhv.edu/register/UHVSupSat@Katy
“Super Saturday it’s our one-stop registration event where students can meet with multiple UHV offices and get their questions answered to get ready for the Fall semester,” said Karla DeCuir, UHV interim vice president for enrollment management.
Representatives from various departments on campus will be stationed at University Commons to assist students with whichever area they require, said Oscar Torres, UHV associate director of enrollment management and new student experience. Some of the campus representatives who will be at the event will include Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, Student Billing, academic advisors and Student Success coaches.
“This is a great opportunity to tie up loose ends and connect with campus resources that can help accommodate students’ work schedules,” Torres said.
The event is geared toward students who have already been accepted into the university. For students who are accepted into UHV, this would be a great opportunity for them to enroll in classes, Torres said. It is also open to prospective students who want to receive more information on attending UHV.
Before coming to Super Saturday, students are encouraged to check their UHV student email and their UHV Self Service accounts to see if there are any documents they may need to bring. Some necessary documents may include transcripts, test scores, financial aid documents, shot records and a valid form of identification, Torres said.
