UHV recognizes faculty, staff and 2023 employee of the year
The University of Houston-Victoria has named Hannah Moss as the 2023 Employee of the Year on Tuesday during the annual UHV Faculty & Staff Recognition Luncheon for her exceptionalism, and unwavering dedication to serving students.
Along with Moss, nearly 50 faculty and staff members were honored for their years of service, ranging from five to 30 years with the university.
“Every good thing that happens at this university happens because of the people sitting in this room,” said UHV President Bob Glenn, addressing the employees gathered inside UHV University North. “I thank you for all that you have done in the past, all that you continue to do, and all that you will do in the future.”
Moss came to the university in 2015, originally as a temporary employee in the Office of Admissions and Records working as an admissions assistant. Later that year, she served as an admissions and records analyst.
In 2018, she became an academic advisor and later went on to be an associate director in the admissions office in 2022. Today, she serves as an associate registrar for the Registrar and Student Records office.
The Employee of the Year was chosen from among the university’s 2023 Employees of the Month, who were nominated by their peers and selected by a staff committee. At the end of last year, a poll was sent out to campus to choose the Employee of the Year from the monthly winners, Glenn said.
“She always goes above and beyond to help our students,” Glenn said, referencing a provided quote on Moss. “She attended Super Saturdays to represent the Office of Student Records, but we needed help with advising. Because she has knowledge in advising from being an advisor previously, she stepped in and helped so many students so that they didn’t have to keep waiting. We are so lucky to have her as a part of our team.”
Moss will receive a $500 check, and her name will be engraved on a plaque to be displayed at UHV University West.
In addition to Moss, others listed on the ballot were:
- Theresa Hawken, Library Business Operations manager
- Robert Hernanez, Community Outreach and Student Recreation manager at UHV Katy in Enrollment Management and External Relations
