UHV ranked among most affordable online colleges

The University of Houston-Victoria has been named one of the most affordable online colleges in the nation, according to a recent online ranking website.

College Consensus included UHV in its list of the Most Affordable Online Colleges for 2024. The list ranks the top 100 colleges and universities that offer affordable tuition in the U.S. UHV was one of six Texas universities featured on the list.

“UHV is dedicated to serving the needs of students by offering an excellent education at an affordable price,” said Joann Olson, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs. “We are proud to receive this acknowledgement.”

When creating its list of affordable online colleges, the main data points that the website considered were the in-state and out-of-state undergraduate tuition costs of each college or university. To be considered in the ranking, the institutions had to be accredited and recognized by the National Center for Education Statistics, and offer at least three bachelor’s degree programs, either completely or primarily online.

UHV is a public university that is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. It offers more than 50 academic programs as well as concentrations and certificates. These programs include bachelor’s, master’s and specialist degrees in four academic colleges: Business, Education & Health Professions, Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, and Natural & Applied Science. Available programs cover a range of popular options including nursing, education, criminal justice, computer science, digital gaming and simulation, marketing, accounting and counseling.
