UHV Glow 5K Run & Walk shines light on domestic violence

Glow 5K Run & Walk
A group of runners make their way around a curve during the annual Glow 5K Run & Walk event Oct. 17 at the University of Houston-Victoria. In collaboration with Victoria College, the event raised awareness about domestic violence. A resource fair was also available at the event to provide attendees with proper resources to those who need help. Organizations who were at the event included: UHV Student Government Association, UHV Counseling Center, Victoria College, Restoration House Ministries, Billy T. Cattan Recovery Outreach, Community Health Centers of South Central Texas, Hope of South Texas, YMCA, Victoria Crime Stoppers, Gulf Bend Center, Victoria County Public Health Department, Be Well Victoria and Mid-Coast Family Services.

The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers courses leading to more than 50 academic programs in the schools of Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; and Education, Health Professions & Human Development. UHV provides face-to-face classes at its Victoria campus, as well as an instructional site in Katy, Texas, and online classes that students can take from anywhere. UHV supports the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Opportunities for All initiative to increase awareness about state colleges and universities and the important role they have in providing a high-quality and accessible education to an increasingly diverse student population, as well as contributing to regional and state economic development.
