UHV awards final set of anniversary scholarships
The University of Houston-Victoria has awarded its fifth and final set of 10 scholarships to celebrate the university’s 50th anniversary. The $1,000 scholarships are awarded from the university’s 50th Anniversary Scholarship throughout the year as part of the UHV 50th Anniversary celebration. The final group of scholarships were awarded based on a drawing students entered by submitting a photo of themselves displaying their school spirit during UHV Homecoming.
The winners are Delmys Canelas and Ivan Manuel Sanchez of Houston; Bharath Thulasi of Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, India; Golmaryam Zorofchi Benisi of Katy; Kaydee Cox of Lindale’ Anyssia Mendoza of Mathis; Olasumbo Agbabiaka of Ojodu, Lagos, Nigeria; Raquel Coronado of Rockport; Ariel Supak of Victoria and Tumaini Muraya of West Covina, Calif.
The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers courses leading to more than 50 academic programs in the schools of Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; and Education, Health Professions & Human Development. UHV provides face-to-face classes at its Victoria campus, as well as an instructional site in Katy, Texas, and online classes that students can take from anywhere. UHV supports the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Opportunities for All initiative to increase awareness about state colleges and universities and the important role they have in providing a high-quality and accessible education to an increasingly diverse student population, as well as contributing to regional and state economic development.
