Accounting firm gives UHV students look at career opportunities

Ugo Onwudiegwui, a tax shareholder with Doeren Mayhew CPAs, shares a presentation on Oct. 18 with UHV accounting students about why accountants should consider being part of the company’s audit team. Representatives from the company came to UHV Katy to speak with the university’s accounting students as part of a series of networking events that the UHV College of Business hosts for its students and area businesses. Students also heard presentations by Bo Zhao, a tax manager, and Maris Prakonekham, a human resources specialist with the CPA firm. The business college will offer similar networking opportunities for students in various business fields throughout the academic year.

The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers courses leading to more than 50 academic programs in the schools of Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; and Education, Health Professions & Human Development. UHV provides face-to-face classes at its Victoria campus, as well as an instructional site in Katy, Texas, and online classes that students can take from anywhere.
