Morgan, who had served as president of Sul Ross University for nearly two decades, was tapped to oversee a critical period for UHV, to elevate it to a destination university following its transition from a two-year institution to a four-year degree granting institution. Morgan served UHV on a year-to-year contract, extended three times during his tenure. He will remain in office until fall 2018.

“I am proud of our accomplishments at the University of Houston-Victoria, including our enrollment growth, the addition of new buildings and our move from Sugar Land to UHV Katy, and I’m grateful to the UH System for its confidence in my leadership,” Morgan said. “UHV remains on a steady course toward excellence, and this is the right time to bring new, visionary leadership to the UHV community as we continue to grow into a destination university.”

Morgan has served UHV at the pleasure of the University of Houston System Board of Regents and with the confidence of Chancellor Renu Khator. A search for a permanent president for UHV will begin this fall.
