The UHV Student Government Association organized a group of students to help feed people in need during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. Students also took part in other activities during the week, including volunteering at the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent and making bags for the homeless. The university also hosted its annual Food Fight, during which students donated meals from their meal plans, which were converted into cash by the university to benefit the food bank or victims of the flooding in Louisiana.</div>
