“I want to get away from home but still be close to home,” he said. UHV was just the right distance from home and family.

He first heard about the university at a college event at his former high school and liked what he was told. “I liked that the freshman class was a smaller class, just 200 students,” he said. “I liked that it wasn't huge.”

He plans to major in education and become a high school history teacher and student council adviser after he graduates.

His extracurricular activities in high school included working as the public relations manager for student council, playing drums in the band, and serving as vice president for the senior class, and vice president and secretary for Student Crime Stoppers.

He's also a big fan of baseball, especially the Astros and Chicago Cubs, and singer/songwriter Taylor Swift.

The University of Houston-Victoria, located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers
courses leading to more than 50 academic programs in the schools of Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; and Education,
Health Professions & Human Development. UHV provides face-to-face classes at its Victoria campus, as well as an instructional
site in Katy, Texas, and online classes that students can take from anywhere. UHV supports the American Association of State
Colleges and Universities Opportunities for All initiative to increase awareness about state colleges and universities and
the important role they have in providing a high-quality and accessible education to an increasingly diverse student population,
as well as contributing to regional and state economic development.
