Job fair offers careers in education field

<p>KATY - Anyone looking for a rewarding new career at a public school can find a lot of options at the Education Job Fair from 1 to 3 p.m. April 24 at the University of Houston System at Cinco Ranch, 4242 S. Mason Rd.</p>
<p>“We want to invite education majors, experienced professionals, counselors, paraprofessionals and anyone else interested in working for one of the Houston-area school systems,” said Eunice Mesa, Career Services coordinator at the University of Houston-Victoria, which offers classes at UHSCR.</p>
<p>About 20 school districts will be represented. The event is free. Attendees are encouraged to dress professionally and bring plenty of resumes, Mesa said.</p>
<p>Information about degrees and certification programs at UHV also will be available.</p>
<p>“Education offers a very rewarding career in a recession-resistant field,” said Dennis Riedesel, director of field-based experiences and certification officer at the UHV School of Education & Human Development.</p>
<p>UHV’s VOICE program allows professionals with bachelor’s degrees to become certified teachers in less than a year. Students can complete most of the program entirely online.</p>
