Biography

Dr. Olga Chapa received her PhD from the University of Texas-Pan American--a double major in Business Administration with an emphasis on International Business.

Dr. Chapa's teaching interests encompass a variety of management areas.

Dr. Chapa's research focus is based on differences of age, gender and cultural influences on employee time strain and anxiety between emergency and non-emergency occupations. Her research includes corrupt behavior and individual willingness to relocate. She is one of the very few researchers developing and validating a scale intended to measure moral courage in the organizations. Dr. Chapa's extensive research on gender roles, social support, and cultural factors influencing human behavior within the organizational context, earned her an Emerald/EFMD Highly Commended Dissertation Award in 2009.

Dr. Chapa has published her work in various outlets and presented her research at the Academy of Management, International Academy of Management, Society for the Advancement of Science, Southwestern Academy of Management and the Southwest Decisions Science Institute in California, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Washington D.C., Canada and Spain.

Dr. Chapa has an extensive record of professional and community service. She has served as a reviewer for journals including top tier publishing outlets and conference proceedings for regional, national and international conferences. She is actively involved in management conferences as discussant, chair and in the capacity of member of the International Committee for the Gender and Diversity in Organizations (GDO) Division and Academy of Management (2013, 2014).
