Biography

Dr. Feirong Yuan earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Management from Texas A&M University Mays School of Business in 2005, specializing in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. Prior to joining faculty at University of Houston Victoria, Dr. Yuan served on faculty at the University of Kansas, UT Arlington, and Southern Methodist University.

Dr. Yuan’s research focuses on individual motivation, interpersonal processes, and cross-cultural issues related to employee creativity and innovation. She has worked with organizations from different industries both in the U.S. and in China. Her research makes contributions that help managers build innovative teams and organizations. Dr. Yuan’s research has appeared in academic outlets such as the Academy of Management Journal, Creativity Research Journal, Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Oxford Bibliographies in Management, Research in Organizational Change and Development, and others. Her research has also been cited at the Harvard Business Review and broadcasted at Kansas Public Radio in the program “Research Matters”.

Dr. Yuan has offered a variety of courses at the undergraduate, MBA, EMBA, and Ph.D. levels. She has offered staff training in the area of creativity and innovation. Dr. Yuan is the recipient of 2008 teaching innovation award from the University of Kansas and was inducted as a faculty member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society for Business Programs at UT Arlington in 2014 and at UHV chapter in 2021. She was recognized with UHV “Service-to-Students” recognition in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

Dr. Yuan currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Behavioral Science and is the Division Representative-at-Large at the Organization Development and Change (ODC) Division, Academy of Management. She is a member of the Academy of Management (AOM), American Psychological Association (APA), International Association for Chinese Management Research (IACMR), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology (SIOP).
