Biography

Dr. Chien-Ping Chen earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Microeconomics from the University of Houston. His research focuses on healthcare economics, market reconstruction, and pricing strategies, with his work frequently offering normative analyses and policy recommendations for governments. He has published extensively in prestigious journals, contributing significantly to his field. Dr. Chen has also taught various quantitative courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including data analytics, business statistics, and managerial economics. His commitment to teaching excellence has been recognized with the UHV Teaching Excellence Award in both 2005 and 2020.

Originally from Taiwan, Dr. Chen has been actively involved in the Houston Taiwanese community, serving as a North American overseas commissioner appointed by the Taiwan President and chairperson for several community and business organizations. His dedication to fostering global learning is evident in his leadership of multiple study-abroad programs for UHV MBA students, where he has provided firsthand exposure to East Asian high-tech industries, including a notable visit to the chipmaking giant TSMC.
