Be the change you wish to see in the world. – Gandhi
What I have learned as a Success Coach is that it takes a lot more initiative to advising students in the world of higher education. I am here to help students because I am compassionate, supportive, and driven to help students succeed. I was once an undergraduate student; therefore, to me all students matter and deserve an education. I am a wife/mother, a learner, an educator and a first generation student. I am currently 15 hours away from my masters in Adult and Higher education following the higher education route at UHV. My door is almost always open and I am here to help you create your own success story.
I’m a father, husband, learner, and would-be woodworker. I’m originally from Pampa, Texas, but I moved to Victoria as a teenager with my Mom. I earned my B.A. in English from UHV and taught high school English, journalism, and yearbook for four years. I’m currently working on my Masters in Adult and Higher Education with a concentration in history. I’m not sure where the future will take me, but I enjoy teaching and helping people, so chances are I’ll be doing that in some form. Welcome to UHV, and let me know if I can help you in any way.
Practice proactive procrastination. If you do it now, you won’t have to do it later.
Vince Lombardi said, “The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.” As a Success Coach, I am passionate about helping my students put in the work and reach their goals. I work with my students as they transition into college. I help them with everything from degree plans, time management, organization, stress management, connecting on campus, becoming independent, and more. I understand that every student is different and there is no “one size fits all” approach to college. I strive to help my student find their own, unique path to success.
My educational background includes a BS in mathematical sciences and a M.Ed. in Adult and Higher Education. I earned both degrees at the University of Houston-Victoria. I am currently pursuing a doctorate in Educational Leadership at Lamar University.
Hi! My name is Michelle Revels, and I was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. I am a sophomore, and I am a member of the softball team. I am currently majoring in Kinesiology with a secondary teaching certification in history. For my future occupation, I would like to be in sports broadcasting as a sportscaster. I am obsessed with my dog, Abby, and I love being on the beach.
College Tip: Make a schedule for yourself. Time management is a key factor in being successful. In order to study efficiently, you need to plan out how and when you will study.
