The Association of Teachers of Japanese Bridging Project
Offers scholarships to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan. Funding from private foundations and major U.S. corporations has made it possible for ATJ to award 60-100 scholarships annually to assist students with the travel and living expenses they will incur while studying abroad in Japan for a semester or an academic year.
LewerMark “Make Your Mark” Scholarship
Student entrants – both international and study abroad students – are challenged to submit a 500-word essay that answers the question: “How will an international education help me make a difference in the world?” The first place award is $1,250.00, the second place award is $1,000.00, and the third place award is $750.00. Phi Kappa Phi

Women’s Opportunity Award (Washington, DC)
The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards assist women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects. In addition to providing the primary financial support for their families, eligible applicants must be enrolled in, or have been accepted to, a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program and must demonstrate financial need. Also, please note only residents of Soroptimist International of the Americas’ member countries and territories are eligible to apply for the educational grants. The Live Your Dream Awards involves three levels of cash awards. The program begins at the local Soroptimist club-level, where award amounts vary. Local-level award recipients become eligible for region-level awards of either $3,000 or $5,000. Region-level award recipients then become eligible to receive one of three international-level awards of $10,000.
HI USA Explore The World Travel Scholarships
Travel should be as much about making a difference in the world as it is about seeing it. That’s why HI USA created Explore the World Travel Scholarships. Recipients receive $2,000 to help finance their international trip that includes an educational or service component.
2016 HI USA awarded 81 scholarships to young people across the U.S. so they could go learn Arabic in Jordan, volunteer in India and Vietnam, teach math in the Dominican Republic, or board a plane for the very first time to study abroad in Europe. Winners of 2016 scholarships have returned home from their travels with a profound sense of intercultural appreciation, and a renewed dedication to spreading the word about travel and tolerance at home.
Taiwan Ministry Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES)
To encourage international students (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao SAR students are not eligible) to undertake Huayu courses in the Republic of China (Taiwan); in order to provide them with opportunities to increase their understanding of Taiwanese culture and society, and to promote mutual understanding and interactions between Taiwan and the international community. The scholarship offers a monthly stipend of 25,000 NTD (approximately $822 per month)
DAAD German Academic Exchange Service
DAAD scholarships are open for all qualified undergraduate students funding study, senior thesis research and/or internships in Germany. The goal of this program is to support study abroad in Germany and at German universities. Preference will be given to students whose projects or programs are based at organized by a German university. Scholarships are available either as part of an organized study abroad or an independent student abroad semester or year.
