Safe Zone

UHV is committed to providing a diverse and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff. As such, the Safe Zone Committee facilitates Jaguar Ally trainings that creates allies. Allies have gone through training and have agreed to provide a safe, supportive, and accepting place for LGBTQ+ individuals to come and talk about concerns without fear of negative reactions.

The Safe Zone Committee does Jaguar Ally trainings throughout the academic year. This two-hour training is held each semester and is certain to enlighten participants on the various issues that impact the LGBTQ+ community. UHV students who complete the training will receive a free rainbow graduation cord to wear at graduation. Please contact the Safe Zone Committee Chair, Freddie Cantu, for further details.
