Evidenced Based Therapies

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Mindfulness
  • Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

Disability Services

At UHV, we understand that many of our veterans may grapple with a number of physical and mental challenges. These may include an array of emotional disorders, physical disabilities, and even cognitive ailments such as learning disabilities (LD) or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). If this is you, we encourage you to identify yourself with our Office of Disability Services.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, UHV is committed to providing quality services to students who have permanent or temporary disabilities. Our overall goal is to ensure that all students have equal access to the programs and activities that we offer at UHV. This is specifically true with our veterans. In order to minimize the impact of the disability in the academic setting, the Office of Disability Services will arrange for reasonable accommodations, auxiliary aids, and support services based on the specific needs of each student at no cost.

Academic Success

The academic success of our veteran students while at UHV is essential, as their performance in the classroom impacts their successful matriculation into a career after college. As such, UHV has the Student Success Center available for our veterans to utilize at no cost. The Student Success Center is a comprehensive resource center available to all students. The Student Success Center promotes classroom success by working closely with faculty to provide an array academic support programs. They offer a writing center and a peer education program for students at all levels, in addition to supplemental instruction and testing. The writing and peer education services are delivered face-to-face and online in order to meet the demands of our diverse and widespread student population.

Career Services

UHV wants every student who attends our institution to be successful after college. We want our graduates to obtain jobs that satisfy their salary and work environment expectations. While industries differ in focus, employers are similar with what they want in recently graduated individuals beginning their first full time job. As so, it is important to ensure workforce skills are obtained by students during college, and can be articulated on a job application or in an interview. Oftentimes, veterans may need guidance transitioning from the military to the private sector professionally. The Office of Career Services offers a number of services to assist our veteran students in their professional development. They include:

  • Career Assessments
  • Professional Development Resources
  • Resume and Cover Letter Reviews
  • Mock Interviews
  • Job Search Assistance
