Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III – American Rescue Plan (ARP)

On March 11, 2021, President Biden signed the ARP. This new law gives the U.S. Department of Education funding for institutions to award grants. ARP funds will provide UHV students with financial aid emergency grants, which may be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency grants that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care.  The University of Houston-Victoria signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution intended to use no less than 50 percent of the funds received under the CRRSAA and ARP (a) (1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

Eligibility

Students who are or were enrolled in an institution of higher education during the COVID-19 national emergency are eligible for emergency financial aid grants from the HEERF, regardless of whether they completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid or are eligible for Title IV.
