Type of Practicum: Forensic Assessment The practicum would also involve working with HCJPD specialty courts. The student’s primary responsibility will include conducting assessments to evaluate eligibility for special court programs for youth who are involved in gangs, struggle with substance use issues, or make threats of mass violence. The site is looking for a student to commit to a year (may accept a student for two semesters) Ideally, the student would attend practicum 2 days per week, splitting time between the Juvenile Detention Center (1200 Congress St. Houston, TX 77002) and the office behind the Opportunity Center (6500B Chimney Rock Rd., Cottage 6, Houston, TX 77081). Students may also work from home at times and may sometimes have work outside of regularly scheduled hours to meet court deadlines. |
