International Programs

Jaguar Language Center

At the Jaguar Language Center (JLC), we strive to prepare students to have a foreign language capability that enhances their academic programs and enables them to live, work, study and research in a different country. At the moment Jaguar Language Center specializes in English as a Second Language program to international students and others whose native language is not English. Eventually the Jaguar Language Center hopes to introduce different languages across the globe.

English as a Second Language Program

Jaguar Language Center offers English as a Second Language program located on the campus of the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) in beautiful city Victoria, TX. The ESL program provides an entry pathway for international students without a TOEFL or IELTS. Designed to ensure success, students develop the university language skills they need to succeed. The ESL program admits students with beginner through advanced language skills. Students are fully integrated into academic, social and cultural life of the University.

Jaguar Language Center provides two options. They are English Only option and Jaguar Language Center Conditional Admission Studies.

English Only Option:

Students may choose this intensive, on-campus program if they want to develop their English skills and experience students life on a University campus. This option does not allow for University admissions unless the student applies to the University with all other required application requirements.

JLC Conditional Admission Studies:

Students may choose this option if they want to study a degree program at UHV. Students are recommended to apply to the University for a Degree Program with no TOEFL or IELTS or low TOEFL or IELTS scores. Conditional admission students receive an I-20 for language training and a letter of admission to the University for the Visa Interview. Upon completion of the ESL program, a transfer I-20 for entry in to the degree program will be issued by the University. Students who successfully complete ESL are not required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. Please note: students may not begin academic studies until they have completed the ESL program.
