- CUIN 6312 Human Development and Learning
- CUIN 6314 The Professional Educator
- CUIN 6320 Models of Teaching
- LITY 6334 Foundations of Developmental Reading
*Required to prepare for TExES #293 Science of Teaching Reading Exam (EC-6 or 4-8 Certification)
OR
SPED 6321 Introduction to Special Education (Secondary certifications, including 7-12 English, science, math or history)
Internship or Residency: 6 semester hours**
- CUIN 6316 Internship/Residency I
- CUIN 6317 Internship/Residency II
**The two additional courses for certification do not count towards master’s degree requirements.
Major Concentration: 18 s.h. (recommended or by advisement)
- ESLN 6310 Assessment in Bilingual and ESL Education
- ESLN 6311 Foundation of Bilingual and ESL Education
- ESLN 6312 Principles of Second Language Teaching
- ESLN 6313 Teaching Second Language Literacy
- ESLN 6314 Teaching English as a 2nd Language
- SPED 6321 Introduction to Special Education*
*Secondary teacher certification, including 7-12 English, science, math, or history, will take LITY 6334 in place of SPED 6321
Total: 30 semester hours
Additional Requirements:
- Certification requirements must be completed before taking the master comprehensive exam.
- Take Master Comprehensive Exam during final semester of coursework
- This degree requires completing certification in EC-6, Grade 4 – 8, or Secondary (History, Science, Math, Life Science, Science), Physical Education EC-12 or Spanish (EC-12).
