UHV Counselor Education Program Outcomes for 2016-2017

During the 2016-2017 academic year the UHV Counselor Education program had a total of 74 enrolled students at the Katy and Victoria campuses. there were 16 Clinical Mental Health Counseling and 6 School Counseling graduates from the UHV Counselor Education Program. Our graduates consistently achieve high pass rates on licensing and certification examinations. Our 2017 (April) National Counselor Examination (NCE) pass rate was 100%. The pass rate for the TExES 152 was 90%. The NCE is required for licensure and the TExES 152 is required for school counselor certification in Texas.

Students are admitted to the Counselor Education program as either full-time or part-time students. The following percentages detail the average completion rates from each of the program tracks. The expected graduation time frame is 3-5 years depending on full time or part time graduate student status. Of those enrolled in the program, 22% graduated from the CMHC track, 50% from the School Counseling track within 3 years of starting the program.

Each graduate from the Counselor Education program completes a survey that details his or her employment within the counseling field. Per self-report from students graduating this past year, 75% of Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling students report finding a position within the counseling field. Our students are able to successfully find employment in the Houston metro area, Victoria, and throughout Texas. Students report finding employment as LPC-Interns, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors (LCDCs) and Certified School Counselors (CSCs) in both the Victoria and Houston metro area. Work settings include area Independent School Districts, state mental health counseling agencies, local clinical mental health agencies and group practices, residential treatment facilities, outpatient mental health centers, adoption agencies, and hospitals. UHV Counselor Education Program Outcomes for 2015-2016

During the 2015-2016 academic year there were 14 CMHC, 31 School Counseling, and 4 Community Counseling graduates from the UHV Counselor Education Program. Our graduates consistently achieve high pass rates on licensing and certification examinations. Our 2015 National Counselor Examination (NCE) pass rate was 88% and the pass rate for the TExES 152 was 100%. The NCE is required for licensure and the TExES 152 is required for school counselor certification in Texas. The Counselor Education program had a 54% pass rate from the April 2016 NCE test administration.

During the 2014-2015 academic year there were 19 community counseling and 9 school counseling graduates of the UHV Counselor Education Program. Our graduates consistently achieve high pass rates on licensing and certification examinations. The pass rate for graduates in 2014 taking the NCE examination was 89% and the TExES 152 was 100%. Of the students admitted to the Counselor Education program as full-time and part-time students, 45.5% graduate from the community counseling track within 3 years and 36.4% graduate from the school counseling track in the expected time period (3-5 years). For students taking coursework full-time, 75% of those who are admitted in the community counseling program graduate within 3 years and 66.7% graduate from the school counseling program within 3 years. From those who graduate from the program, 90% graduates reported they are employed in the counseling field. Our students are able to successfully find employment in the Houston metro area and throughout Texas. Students report finding employment as LPC-Interns and Certified School Counselors in both the Victoria and Houston metro area. UHV Counselor Education Program Outcomes 2012-2013

During the 2012-2013 academic year there were 11 community counseling and 28 school counseling graduates of the UHV Counselor Education Program. Our graduates consistently achieve high pass rates on licensing and certification examinations. The pass rate for graduates in 2012 taking the NCE examination was 97% and the TExES 152 was 99%. Of the students admitted, 45.5% graduate from the community counseling program and 36% graduate from the school counseling program in the expected time period. From those of those program, 92% graduates reported they are employed in the counseling field.
