Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the Pathways to Success program?
The Pathways to Success program was created to assist African American and Hispanic students enrolled at Victoria College, high school students enrolled there and recent VC graduates. UHV is partnering with VC to recruit students who want to pursue a higher education in health studies or counseling.
- How will I know if I am eligible for the program?
Eligibility for the program will be determined when you fill out a short form to indicate your interest and visit with the Pathways project coordinator or one of the graduate assistant mentors. Once the criteria are met, you will be assigned a mentor, and guidance is available right away.
- Who do I talk to about the transfer and admissions process?
You will be assigned to a UHV graduate assistant for career guidance and assessment. You will meet with your mentor to prepare for course registration.
- Can I still apply for financial aid and be part of the Pathways to Success program?
Once you enroll in this program, you are eligible to apply for financial aid and scholarships. If you are co-enrolled, you may apply at your main campus. Your mentor will help by providing information and guidance in completing the documents you need for applications.
- How will the program help me with my field of study?
The program will assist you in all aspects of your field of study from the application to the program of interest, financial aid, employment and mentoring throughout your college life. The program also offers several partnerships throughout the community that will allow you to job shadow at these partnered facilities. UHV has partnered with these community companies to provide you with hands-on experience in fields of study that are of interest. Each of the community partners will host an educational workshop where you will learn about the company, that partner’s field of expertise, useful tools and techniques to be successful in that career.
