UHV’s Texas Teacher Certification program is here to make sure you get the quality education and required State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) credentials to make a difference in classrooms all over Texas.

UHV offers several options for Texas teacher certification including undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate programs with classes online and face-to-face in Victoria and at one Houston location - the Katy instructional site.

Degrees you can earn:

Teachers may also seek certification for the following in the grade level of their base initial certificate:

  • Special Education Certification (early childhood–12th grade)
  • English as a Second Language certification (early childhood–8th grade)

Post-baccalaureate Teacher Certification Options

If you already have a bachelor’s degree, you can gain certification taking required undergraduate education courses. Some students work as teachers while they earn this certification and others choose to student teach in their final semester.
