Admissions Test

TEA requires that educator preparation programs administer an entry exam or test as part of the admissions process.  At UHV, we give students the Nelson Denny test.  The Nelson Denny test measures both comprehension skills and vocabulary.  Tests are scored, and raw scores are converted into a stanine.  A stanine of 3 is required for admission into UHV’s Teacher Education Program.  In the event that a 3 is not scored on the first attempt, a second attempt is allowed.  The second attempt will be a different version of the test.  If the student is not successful on the second attempt, this criteria for admission is not met.
