New CDC Guidelines
Dear UHV Faculty, Staff and Students,
The CDC announced earlier this week that to maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possible spread to others, everyone (vaccinated or unvaccinated) should wear a mask indoors in public if they are in an area of substantial or high transmission. The counties where Victoria and Katy are located are all considered high transmission areas, which you can see here.
As you probably know, following Governor Abbott’s May 18 Executive Order, face coverings are no longer required on campus. However, UHV continues to encourage the wearing of face coverings, especially for individuals who are not fully vaccinated.
UHV will return to normal operations and welcome everyone back to campus on Monday. In addition, the university will be holding a vaccine clinic during the fall semester to encourage any unvaccinated students, faculty or staff members to receive the vaccine. Please help us protect our campus community and consider wearing a mask when in indoor and crowded areas, especially if you are unvaccinated.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the UHV COVID-19 Operations Center at email@example.com. UHV’s COVID-19 website also has a lot of information on it that is continuously updated.
Thank you for your help.
UHV President Bob Glenn
