Dear UHV Faculty, Staff and Students,
I would like to address the new federal guidelines announced Monday regarding international students and online classes. The guidelines indicate that international students on F-1 visas will not be allowed to stay in the U.S. if they take all of their courses online this fall.
I understand and share the confusion and anguish this is causing our international students and their parents. We are in difficult times, and many students already were trying to figure out how to make college possible during the global pandemic. As a destination university serving students from around the world, we are here for you.
I want our international students to know that we will get through this together. We are your advocates. We support you. We value your contributions to the cities we serve, our state and our nation. We know that you and your families are trusting UHV to provide a safe, healthy and inclusive environment to complete your degree programs.
UHV believes in the value of diversity, inclusion, equity and global preparedness. Please be patient as we navigate the details of the new federal guidelines and find options to help our international students remain in compliance. We do not have all the answers yet, but UHV International Programs will provide updates to all registered international students and the campus as soon as they become available.
I hope you and your families are staying safe and healthy during this challenging time.
