University of Houston-Victoria

Update January 12

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

Monday afternoon, the UHV Executive Committee met and discussed what phase the university should be in when spring semester classes start Jan. 19 at UHV and UHV Katy. Since the hospitalization rate for Victoria County remains elevated and the infection rate in the state of Texas remains high, the decision was made to remain at Phase 2 for the start of the spring semester.

Athletics will continue its activities under strict protocols of testing and physical distancing, according to NAIA regulations. The Executive Committee strongly recommends that students who plan to attend any face-to-face class seek testing before entering any classroom for instruction. Faculty members teaching any face-to-face class also are strongly encouraged to take advantage of testing before resuming instruction.

Since the safety of our campus community is of paramount importance, the Executive Committee each week will reevaluate the reopening phase that UHV is in. Any changes will be promptly announced. I thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.
