UHV Reopening Update from UHV President Bob Glenn
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,
The Executive Committee met today and discussed UHV’s reopening progress. While the committee continues to believe that staff working on the Victoria campus and at UHV Katy are in a safe environment, the committee also thinks that area conditions do not support moving on Aug. 3 from Phase 2 to Phase 3. The Executive Committee will reconsider the matter on Aug. 3 to determine when conditions support moving forward. This means that we are delaying moving from Phase 2 to Phase 3 by at least a week. The Executive Committee will review local conditions each week to determine our next steps.
This decision does not affect the Aug. 3 reopening of UHV University West. As you know, that building had substantial fire damage but will reopen Aug. 3. If your office is located in University West, please communicate with your supervisor to see if your presence will be needed on that date or at any time during that week.
These decisions do not affect UHV’s reopening in late August. We are continuing with current operations to open our residence halls and be in a position to teach classes in the three modalities discussed in my July 15 update. You can always find the most up to date information on our COVID-19 website. You can expect to hear from me each week after the Executive Committee determines our best course for the upcoming week.
I understand that you may have questions and concerns. I would say again that our primary concern continues to be the health and safety of our campus community. We are in uncharted waters, and we need your patience as we attempt to navigate to a successful conclusion. If you have a question that cannot be answered by our website, you can always contact me, and I will find the correct answer and get back to you. Have a good week.
